Our Commitments
We care about where this industry is headed. That means putting resources into sustainability research, producer education, and community infrastructure in the regions where we source.
World Coffee Research
ICT participates in the WCR Checkoff Program and matches roaster contributions penny for pound before passing them on to World Coffee Research.
The Cafescor Education Project
We partnered with the Cafescor cooperative in western Honduras to provide school supplies to children in the communities where our producers live and work.
Intercontinental Coffee Trading continues its partnership with Cafescor with the goal of expanding scholarship access for students in the region.
Drinking Water in Honduras
ICT contributed to the rebuilding of the drinking water system in San José de Oriente, Honduras, after hurricanes ETA and IOTA devastated the community.
The project restored clean running water to households across the community, including the farmers processing their coffees there. Read the full account of how the work came together.
HACOFCO CONNECT Certification
We are HACOFCO CONNECT certified, a sustainability standard recognized by the Global Coffee Platform as equivalent to the Coffee SR Code.
The certification is independently audited and covers environmental, social, and economic criteria across the full supply chain, from farm level through export.
The Fara Foundation
Fara Estate has farmed in the mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua for five generations, and the Farahani family reinvests in the region through the Fara Foundation.
For every pound of Fara Estate coffee we sell, ICT contributes to the Foundation, and we ask our roasting partners to match us.
