The Cafescor Education Project
We partnered with the Cafescor cooperative in western Honduras to provide school supplies to children in the communities where our producers live and work.
About the Project
The Cafescor Education Project was an initiative to provide essential school supplies to 1,000 children across 23 educational centers in the western region of Honduras. The Cafescor cooperative, whose members grow coffee in this region, anchored the project. ICT contributed as a direct extension of that sourcing relationship. Education in coffee-growing communities is not separate from the supply chain, it is part of what makes those communities viable long-term.
What the Project Set Out to Do
-
1.
Reduce school dropout rates by giving children the tools to continue their education
-
2.
Support younger generations in building a future in their home communities rather than migrating elsewhere
-
3.
Engage parents directly in supporting their children's education
-
4.
Strengthen the broader community by investing in its next generation

Where the Partnership Stands Today
ICT continues its partnership with Cafescor with the goal of expanding scholarship access for students in the region. Each year, ICT works with a participating partner company on the project. This year's partner is Paris Brothers out of Kansas City.
