About this coffee
Located in Peru’s northern Amazonas region, El Palto is surrounded by lush tropical forests and fertile mountain valleys that create an ideal climate for coffee cultivation. The area’s high elevations, ample rainfall, and volcanic soils give rise to coffees with bright acidity and layered sweetness. The region’s biodiversity also helps preserve natural balance, producing a cup that reflects both the landscape and the stewardship of its people.
The Asociación de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco El Palto (JUMARP) was founded in 2003 and now represents over 200 smallholder farmers. The cooperative is deeply committed to improving the quality of life for its members through education and healthcare programs. JUMARP invests in local schools, provides access to medical care, and organizes health campaigns, ensuring that its social development grows alongside its coffee production. Its holistic approach promotes resilience, equality, and environmental care throughout the community.
As a Organic certified cooperative, JUMARP upholds both ethical and environmental standards. Fair Trade certification ensures that producers receive fair prices and community premiums, empowering members to reinvest in social and economic development. Organic certification guarantees that coffees are cultivated without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, instead using shade-grown methods and natural composting to preserve biodiversity and soil health. Each lot is fully washed, sun-dried, and prepared to European standards (EP), resulting in a clean, balanced cup with notes of cocoa, lemongrass, and juicy sweetness; a true reflection of the care and commitment behind every harvest.
