Decaf MC

About this coffee

MC Decaf is sourced through Excelco Decaf and processed using the Methylene Chloride (MC) decaffeination method. This process is designed to remove caffeine while preserving much of the coffee's original flavor, body, and character.

During MC decaffeination, green coffee beans are moistened to prepare them for caffeine extraction. Methylene chloride, a solvent that selectively binds to caffeine, is then used to remove the caffeine from the beans. Following extraction, the coffee undergoes additional processing, including steaming and drying, to remove residual solvent and prepare the beans for roasting.

MC decaffeination is widely used in the coffee industry for its efficiency, consistency, and ability to preserve desirable flavor characteristics. Compared to some alternative decaffeination methods, MC processing is generally more cost-effective, making it an attractive option for roasters looking to offer a quality decaf at an accessible price point.

The process is particularly well suited for maintaining the familiar chocolatey, nutty, and smooth characteristics often associated with Brazilian coffees. This makes Brazil MC Decaf a versatile option for espresso blends, house decaf offerings, and everyday brewing.

For roasters seeking a balance of flavor, consistency, and value, MC Decaf offers a dependable solution without compromising the coffee-drinking experience.
