More Information

Coffee is grown throughout Tanzania's most celebrated producing regions, including the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Usambara Mountains, and the Southern Highlands, where fertile volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and cool temperatures create ideal conditions for producing exceptional Arabica coffee. These high-elevation environments allow coffee cherries to mature slowly, resulting in dense beans with bright acidity, layered sweetness, and outstanding cup clarity.

Most Tanzanian coffee is cultivated by smallholder farmers who deliver freshly harvested cherries to centralized washing stations for processing. Through careful sorting, washed processing, and meticulous drying, these coffees consistently showcase the vibrant, expressive characteristics that have made East African coffees highly sought after by specialty roasters.

One of Tanzania's most recognizable offerings is Tanzania Peaberry. Unlike a typical coffee cherry, which develops two flat-sided seeds, a peaberry forms a single, rounded seed. These naturally occurring beans represent only a small percentage of each harvest and are valued for their concentrated flavor, lively acidity, balanced sweetness, and silky body.
