Our Sourcing Relationships in Costa Rica

ICT has built trusted relationships with Costa Rican cooperatives and producer organizations that share our commitment to quality, sustainability, and long-term producer success.

  • CoopeAgri (Working with ICT for 7 Years) – Founded in 1962, CoopeAgri is one of Costa Rica's largest and most respected agricultural cooperatives, representing more than 6,000 small and medium-sized producers in the Brunca region. Beyond producing exceptional coffees, the cooperative invests in agronomic support, sustainability initiatives, education, healthcare, and community development, helping strengthen the long-term future of coffee farming in southern Costa Rica.

More Information

Costa Rica has earned a global reputation for producing some of the cleanest and most consistent specialty coffees in the world. Fertile volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and high elevations create ideal growing conditions that allow coffee cherries to mature slowly, producing dense beans with bright acidity, refined sweetness, and exceptional cup clarity.

ICT's Costa Rican program is centered primarily around the Brunca region in southern Costa Rica, where mountainous terrain and elevations of approximately 1,400-1,900 MASL produce coffees with vibrant acidity, structured sweetness, and a clean finish. While Brunca serves as the foundation of our program, we also source coffees from other producing regions as seasonal opportunities arise.

Costa Rica has long been a leader in coffee innovation, pioneering advancements in cultivation, processing, and sustainability. Today, many producers utilize carefully managed washed, honey, and natural processing methods to highlight the country's exceptional terroir. This continued commitment to quality and traceability makes Costa Rica a cornerstone origin for specialty roasters seeking dependable, expressive coffees with broad consumer appeal.
